Dear Residents and Family Members:

As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health has issued a new directive in an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus in skilled nursing facilities. This new policy is explained in the attached letter.

The Nathaniel Witherell, like all skilled nursing facilities in the State, is required to follow this directive, and may at some point be required to transfer residents who test positive for COVID-19. This decision has been made to create physical distance in order to prevent the spread of disease and to provide the highest level of care for all.

We understand that this action may create concern or added stress for our residents and their families. Please rest assured that we will do all that we can to ease any necessary transitions and make every resident feel safe and secure during this time. Please note that residents and their families will be notified prior to any necessary transfers.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this challenging time together.

Due to a State of Connecticut Department of Public Health directive to ensure nursing home residents are protected from the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), The Nathaniel Witherell is restricting all visitation at this time including volunteers. For more information, click here.

Message from the Executive Director (3/30/20): The health and safety of our residents and staff are our top priorities.
