The Nathaniel Witherell is a short-term rehab and skilled nursing center located on 24 beautiful acres, just two miles from downtown Greenwich. We have served the community since 1903.
The Witherell is committed to person-centered care provided by a compassionate, highly competent, and experienced staff. We are fortunate to have an extremely low turnover rate – six times lower than Connecticut’s nursing home average – which translates into stability and continuity for our residents.
We are nonprofit, and are owned and operated by the Town of Greenwich. Witherell is the only nursing home in Connecticut that is municipally owned.
When you visit the Witherell, you’ll see a beautifully appointed, up-to-date facility. Thanks to Witherell’s recent Project Renew renovation, the infrastructure and environment were dramatically improved. Total construction costs were $27 million.
Witherell was recently recognized as “one of the best nursing homes in Connecticut” by U.S. News & World Report. For each year since the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services adopted its rating system in 2008, Witherell has enjoyed the Center’s coveted 5-star rating, a distinction granted to only 22% of the nursing homes in the United States.
