New York Times Columnist Jane Brody to Keynote Friends Luncheon on Nov 7th
The Friends of Nathaniel Witherell have tapped New York Times columnist Jane Brody to share her wisdom on brain health and healthy aging at a luncheon to benefit the work of The Friends of Nathaniel Witherell, Thursday, November 7, at Greenwich Country Club, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
This event is a continuation of Witherell’s popular tradition of enlisting experts to illuminate timely topics for the community. The luncheon will raise funds to create essential quality of life programs for Greenwich senior citizens that live at the Nathaniel Witherell, the only Town-owned and operated skilled nursing facility in Connecticut. Ms. Brody, the Times’s personal health columnist will speak about “Cultivating a Young Brain: How to Keep Your Brain Healthy as You Age.”
Jane Brody, whose sage, down-to-earth reporting on health issues for The New York Times, is enjoyed by millions of people, notes that every brain changes with age and mental function changes along with it. But, while we can expect some mental decline with age, cognitive impairment is not inevitable. That’s good news to thousands of people in Fairfield County who are interested in maintaining their “brain health.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jane Brody to speak on such an important topic,” notes Scott Neff, Executive Director of the Friends of Nathaniel Witherell. “Brain health is top of mind for us all, and she has written on the topic extensively. Her presentation aligns perfectly with our mission to support healthy aging, both in the community and at the Witherell in our skilled nursing, specialized Memory Care, and short–term rehabilitation units.”
